Search "Cabo coupons" and you'll find three kinds of offers. Coupon books and discount cards give a percentage off at a list of businesses, often with fine print — a drink minimum, the cheapest entrée free, a blackout on holidays. Short-trip passes sold on booking sites charge per person and lean on agent-booked reservations. Which one saves more depends on how you travel. A coupon is fine for a single dinner. How the 2x1 actually works

2x1 means two people for the price of one: you pay for one ticket and your guest's ticket of equal or lower price is free. It applies at every activity partner, as many times as you like while your pass is valid — there is no "once per partner" rule.

You show the pass from your Apple or Google Wallet when you book or check in. Most tour operators just want a heads-up that you're a Baja Pass member when you reserve. Boats work differently: yacht and fishing charters are 50% off the charter rate and are arranged with our team by email, so we can hold the right boat for your date.

Other honest ways to save in Cabo

• Go in the shoulder season. Late April to early June and October to mid-December have the same sun with lower room rates; whale season (mid-December to mid-April) is peak for tours.
• Book tours with the operator, not a reseller. Resellers add a margin; booking direct is also how the 2x1 is applied.
• Eat where locals eat for lunch. Taco stands and fondas in downtown Cabo San Lucas cost a fraction of the marina.
• Use the public beaches. Médano, Santa María and Chileno are free; the bays with calm water are the best free snorkeling in Los Cabos.
• Take the airport shuttle or bus. Shared shuttles and the Ruta del Desierto bus beat a private transfer for two.
